What is an Affiliate Program?

An affiliate program is a method of advertising that websites use in which they offer a monetary incentive for other webmasters to drive traffic to their website. For instance, when someone purchases a product through a secondary website that is not the main supplier of the product, the secondary website receives a portion of the profit that the main supplier receives. This portion can be taken as a percentage or a flat rate, depending on the main supplier.
